Joe Isaac Symposium

Date:

We are delighted to invite you to our annual Joe Isaac Symposium, exploring the varieties of digital ecosystems at work in the age of AI and other new technologies.

Comparing the digital transformations of work and society through international benchmarks has become increasingly popular to monitor performance, raise awareness of gaps and drive strategic policy change for different labour market actors.

However, established theoretical approaches do not tell the full story. This symposium will outline a novel framework of digital futures at work, challenging and building on established practical and theoretical approaches.

Professor Simon Wilkie, Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics and Head of Monash Business School, will officially welcome guests to this event, featuring eminent speakers and expert panellists:

  • Prof Jacqueline O’Reilly, Co-Director, Digital Futures at Work Research Centre, University of Sussex Business School, UK
  • Liam Byrne, Future of Work and Unionism Project Coordinator, Australian Council of Trade Unions.
  • Prof Joel Cutcher-Gershenfeld, Heller School for Social Policy and Management, Brandeis University, Massachusetts; past president of  the US Labor and Employment Relations Association.

This symposium is hosted by the Department of Management at Monash Business School, and the Department of Management and Marketing at The University of Melbourne, in honour of the late Joe Isaac, AO, FASSA. Among other roles, he was an influential deputy president of the Australian Conciliation and Arbitration Commission, and one of the founders of the Journal of Industrial Relations, the Australian Labour and Employment Relations Association, and the Industrial Relations Society of Victoria.

It is a free event and will be in-person only. Refreshments will be served with networking opportunities. As space is limited, please click on the link below to register ASAP and before 8 October 2024. Please forward this to others who might be interested.
