2025 Qualitative Research in Management and Organization Conference

We are pleased to send some exciting updates about the 2025 Qualitative Research in Management and Organization Conference, which will be taking place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA from 15–17 April 2025.

First, we have received funding from the Society for the Advancement of Management Studies to provide bursaries to graduate students and early-career researchers attending the conference. All graduate students and early-career researchers will be able to apply for a bursary when submitting their abstract. More information is available on the conference website.

We have also added a fourth pre-conference. One of the pre-conferences will take place on the Tuesday from 9 am–12 pm and the other pre-conferences will take place on Tuesday, 15 April from 1:30 pm–4:30 pm. A complete list of the four pre-conference workshops is below:

  • Interviewing Beyond Words: Paper Development Workshop

  • Developing Beautiful and Good Research
    Hosted by Giuseppe Scaratti, Silvia Ivaldi, and Maddalena Gambirasio of the University of Bergamo, Italy (1:30 pm–4:30 pm)
  • Reflexivity: Journaling Right and Left
    Hosted by Janet Salmons, Free-Range Scholar (1:30 pm–4:30 pm)
  • Mashn-up as method: A gestalt qualitative workshop using metaphor, arts-based research, and narrative analysis
    Hosted by Sarah J. Tracy of Arizona State University, USA and Cary Lopez, Independent Scholar (1:30 pm–4:30 pm)

The theme for the 2025 conference is “Theorizing with Critical Reflexivity, Alterity, and Passion.” Our keynote speakers are Ann Cunliffe, QRM Conference Founder, Professor of Organization Studies Fundaçâo Getulio Vargas, Brazil, and Helena Liu, Associate Professor of Management, Bond University, Australia.

As a reminder, we are encouraging people to submit abstracts early to allow more time for travel arrangements and visa applications, if necessary. Contributors who submit abstracts by 4 October 2024 will receive decision notices by the end of October. Abstracts will be accepted until 6 December 2024. All decision notices will be sent by 20 December 2024.
